Background:
Opened in 1973, Park Hall Junior is located in a 'pleasant, residential' area and the nearby lake and trees give a 'rural dimension to an urban environment'. As the first junior community school in the UK, Park Hall was initially subjected to visitors from all over the country and abroad, examining the way in which the school operated as an educational centre and a focus and resource for community activities. All children have the possibility to participate in rounders, netball, mini rugby, football, short tennis, indoor hockey and other team games as part of the physical education curriculum. A number of sports such as football, netball and mini rugby are also offered as extra-curricular activities, in addition to orchestra, choir, chamber choir, recorder, stamp club, technology, games, chess and cycling. A before and after school club is run on the site by the community association. There are two special educational needs (SEN) co-ordinators who work with pupils both within and outside of lessons. Where necessary SEN pupils follow individual education plans.
