Background:
The Coppice Primary is 'pleasantly' situated in the semi-rural environment of Wythall. In 1991 the school was modernised and refurbished to include a new building for classrooms, while there are plans to open an information technology room and a resource centre in 2000. The school offers a 'wide range' of extra-curricular activities and is 'proud' of its successes in sport, music and drama. Clubs include football, netball, science, computer and French, and pupils have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument if they 'display aptitude, commitment and interest'. Gymnastics is an 'outstanding feature' of the school, which has a 'long history' of achievement at national levels in this sport. In 1999 the boys team were floor, vault and team champions. The Coppice has 'strong' links with the community and aims to be a place where 'children can achieve their full potential'.
