Background:

Cooper and Jordan is the oldest school in Aldridge, founded in 1781 by the two clergymen whose name it bears. Now a voluntary aided school within the Diocese of Lichfield, strong links have been maintained with the parish church and the school's trustees provide a school churchworker to help with teaching and promoting the Christian ethos of the school. Completed in 1971, the current school building has been expanded over the years to provide an enlarged library, specialist area for teaching crafts and a computer suite providing access to the internet. The school emphasises the importance of music to complement the academic curriculum and is proud of its orchestra and of giving all pupils the opportunity to learn string, woodwind and brass instruments. Pupils may join clubs for extra-curricular netball, boys and girls football, short tennis, cross country, athletics, cookery, gardening, hand bells, chess and cycling proficiency. The school's aim to 'promote and awareness of the needs of others' is exemplified in their support for the Children's Society, the school's named charity. In addition, each week, children run a stall for a charity of their choice and support charity initiatives at the parish church.
