Background:

Broadmeadow Junior is organised into mixed ability classes with two parallel classes in each year group. Pupils are set according to ability for some subjects. Extra-curricular activities vary according to the interests of the staff and children. Examples are netball, football, cricket, drama, choir and recorders. Each year pupils in Year 6 are given the chance to go on a residential trip and in 1998 they travelled to the Alps for a ski course. Co-operation between home and school is seen as 'very important' and parents are encouraged to come forward if they feel they can contribute to the life of the school. The school aims to be a 'friendly, caring school where there is a comfortable environment conducive to learning and where courtesy, self discipline and co-operation are encouraged'.
