Background:

Templars Primary School was opened in 1931 and was known as Whoberley School. The name was later changed to Templars' in 1951. The school wants every pupil to achieve the highest possible standard in numeracy and literacy. Reading, writing and mathematics (including arithmetic) therefore occupy a significant part of the teaching program for all children. The school also provides opportunities for children to learn to play musical instruments. Pupils have the opportunity of additional practice outside the school hours and representing the school. The school has two football and netball pitches. A range of clubs operates throughout the year: gymnastics club, netball, cross-country running, gym club, recorder club, orchestra, cricket and hockey. The school aims to built around each child being able to enjoy, in school, a warm, friendly and supportive environment that maximises their chances of reaching their full potential.
