Background:
Wallbrook is set in 'pleasant, self-contained' and 'extensive' grounds in Coseley, North Dudley. It is on the Sandwell boundary and as a consequence, draws some of its pupils from there. Opened in 1953, the school and has nine classrooms, new offices, a security lobby, a new Key Stage 2 library and a computer suite. There is disabled access and a disabled toilet. The curriculum is 'well resourced' and offers 'high standards'. The school is very proud of the improvements in maths in recent years which have seen a rise from 13% of pupils gaining Level 4 or more to 71% over a period of just four years. This was recognised by the Department of Education and Employment in 1999 when the school was congratulated for having made the fourth highest improvement during that period. The school offers extra-curricular activities such as football, netball, choir, nature club, maths club, technology club and badminton club. Wallbrook Primary aims to 'enable each pupil to develop the necessary skills and attitudes to become an independent, confident individual and learner'.
