Background:

Wednesfield High School is a secondary school and sixth form for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is 11 to 18. The school is based in two well-equipped buildings situated in extensive playing fields and separated by a short walk between the two. Each building has its own information technology rooms with fully networked computers for staff and pupils. All subject departments have their own suites of rooms: business studies, humanities, mathematics, art, music, dance and drama are based in the Lakefield Building. The school has 12 acres of playing fields and offer the full range of team and individual events for both summer and winter. It also has pitches laid out for soccer, rugby and hockey in the winter and in the summer the school has a 400-metre running track. Indoors, there are two gymnasiums, a multi-gym and a 25-meter heated indoor swimming pool. The school has excellent links with sports clubs in the area and offers specialist coaching in tennis, basketball and karate. The school aims to create a pleasant and supportive environment for its pupils.
