Background:
Whetstone Field Primary School was built in 1968, following the typical 60's design with classrooms built round central quadrangle. Separate playing field and grassed area are available outside taken mainly from private housing in suburb of Walsall. Students achieve high standards in Key Stage1 and 2 SATs. Setting system in Key Stage 2 has been praised by Ofsted. The school offers broad curriculum and extra-curricular activities normally take place in the evening; mainly sport oriented, but also include music and cycling proficiency. School also participates in local football/ netball leagues. New computer suite in the former quadrangle was completed in February 2004 and has been praised by numerous people. It is now in full use focusing on ICT. Interactive whiteboards have been installed in all classrooms, from reception to Year 6. The school has strong links with Aldridge Church and also Walsall football club. Money is raised for charity every year, including at least one human charity and also Year 6 children organise National pet week in which they raise money for seven local and national charities. This school has a happy and caring ethos with high expectations of all aspects of school life.
