Background:

The Earls High School is an 11-16 comprehensive school in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley. The school was founded in 1652 and with its 350 years of history, inherits a magnificent and spacious site. The addition of new purpose-built blocks has enhanced the opportunities. The modern superbly equipped technology block ranks as the best in the area. Each curriculum area has its own suite of rooms and the sports facilities are extensive. Large grounds and sports field are supplemented by an all weather football pitch. A new cricket pavilion overlooks the historic cricket square and there are three separate gymnasiums in the school. The newly extended learning resource centre encompasses a traditional library with access to the new learning support room and a brand new computer room. The school has superb ICT facilities through the Dudley Grid for Learning. The school is a designated Specialist College for the Performing Arts. As a specialist college the school teaches the full national curriculum but has particular expertise in dance, drama and music, which enhances the curriculum. The school provides a wide variety of extra-curricular activities in physical education, music, arts and mathematics/science/technology. All students are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of trips, events and visits throughout the year. These range from concerts, history and geography field trips to skiing holidays.
