Background:
St Joseph's was founded in 1907 in the downstairs rooms of St Helen's Chapel in Station Road, Kings Norton and gradually expanded to take over the whole building.' 'In september 1990 the building was found to be unsafe and it needed to be evacuated and partly demolished.' After a lengthy national campaign, a new school was built in Selly Oak Road and was opened in 1994. The school has gone from 'strength to strength' achieving 'academic and sporting success'. 'The school also has a choir and takes part in musical festivals throughout the city.' Several charities are supported by the school such as Cafod, Oxfam and NCH Action for children.
