Background:
Christ Church CE Primary School was opened in 1842. The school is situated in the urban area of Leamore, in Walsall. Its present buildings were completed in July 1971 and offer a meadow area, and more than 700 trees. Facilities were improved with the addition of a computer suite in 1999, and a project with Neighbourhood Nature to develop a school pond and garden. Plans are now underway to convert a derelict part of the site into a wildlife area which could also be used by other schools and the local community. The school organises fundraising events to benefit charities and a partnership with the Marie Curie Cancer appeal resulted in the planting of daffodil bulbs in the grounds. Children may join clubs for computers, choir, theatre workshop, coaching in many sports, film and media, and Maths. Pupils may also take extra-curricular music lessons.
