Background:
Large and airy two-storey building in own grounds, next to fields, on edge of small rural town. Diocese bought empty county school in 1997, enabling school to move from previous cramped and outdated building. Good sporting facilities; extra-curricular sports; has own minibus for sporting fixtures, and manages its own swimming tuition and transport. Art, drama and music also play significant part in success of school; five whole-school art days each year, and two drama events that include all children. Extra-curricular activities include football, netball, athletics, computer club, cycling proficiency, drama/dance club and band sessions. Wrap-around care: before-school care, from 7.30am; after-school care, until 5.45pm. DfES achievement award (2001). Ethos: 'A Christian, warm, caring environment providing a secure and orderly learning atmosphere'.
