Background:

St Michael's Church School first opened in 1848. It was an aided church school. In 1965 it moved to its present site and its status changed to that of a voluntary controlled school. Its aim is to encourage everyone to make an active contribution to the life of the communities to which they belong. The school offers a variety of extra-curricular activities throughout the year. Recent popular clubs have included: ICT, football, choir, dance and cycling proficiency. The school aims to ensure that children acquire understanding, knowledge and respect for the Christian faith and develop a sense of right and wrong, which will help them when making decisions in their lives.
