Background:
Elmore Green Primary School was formed in 1972 when Elmore Green Infant and Junior schools combined. The combined school then moved to its present building, which was erected in 1904 as a secondary school. The internal structure of the school is traditional with enclosed classrooms areas. Years 1 to 4 are housed in the main building, while years 5 and 6 work in a wooden building separate from the school in the junior playground. There are three playgrounds, an environmental area, and a learner swimming pool. The school has a computer suite to cater for classes of up to 36 children, and there are electronic smart boards in four of its classrooms. The school offers a range of extra-curricular activities and clubs including French, Brazilian football, football, basketball, netball, dance, cricket, hockey, rugby. There is a school's council and a class council. The school's council makes a number of recommendations that are acted upon and plans a number of fund-raising activities each year.
