Background:
Originally built in 1895, there have been a number of extensions to the school over the years, most recently with the opening of an early years unit. The grounds comprise tarmac playgrounds, secure gardens for quiet play and a conservation area. The school prides itself on its rates of academic improvement and its 'broad, exciting and creative' curriculum, which is led by 'positive' staff. Children participate 'actively' in evaluating their own progress and those with learning difficulties are supported 'sympathetically' but in a 'challenging' environment. There is also extra support available for 'gifted' children. The curriculum is supported by several extended and residential educational visits. 'Extensive' creative and sporting programmes are also on offer.
