Background:
The school was founded in 1908. It is housed within a small compact building with two playgrounds and limited grassed areas. A Sports Hall has recently been added to the school which provides enhanced physical education and extended school day facilities and Community facilities after school hours. The school is situated in a residential area on the border between Sandwell and Birmingham. Nearby are Warley woods and Lightwoods park.' The school provides a sound academic curriculum with many strengths as Ofsted inspection showed. Extra curricular clubs and facilities ranging from sports to cross-stitch and music are offered regularly. 'A large percentage of children play musical instruments - brass, woodwind, and strings.' The school has many international links including,regular contact and exchanges with schools in Germany, Italy and Romania. 'The school also has links with a local college providing training for Graduate trainee teachers. Every child from age six has the opportunity to attend residential visits for arts, sports and other activities'.
