The school was opened in 1969 and is set up in the grounds of local community. The school'supports broad and balanced curriculum. Whole-school ethos promotes personal and social development and positive and nurturing environment encourages children to establish strong values. Extra-curricular activities include music, boys' and girls' football, athletics, netball, ICT, art, mathematics club and music lessons offered by specialist teachers. The school has a strong community links, which include visits to local businesses and close contact with local secondary schools. Parent-teacher association described as active and effective. The school has been awarded with Investor in People status in (2002) and DfES achievement award in (2002). The school aims to create an environment in which each child, irrespective of their ability, religion or culture, has the opportunities and challenges to develop academically and socially, and to encourage in them a desire to strive for excellence in all areas of life.
