Background:

Great Barr School is a foundation comprehensive school and is co-educational. The school is largest school in the country and has established a long and successful tradition, remaining well subscribed in all years. It is based on a single site on Aldridge Road, with one large main building, gymnasium, a sports hall, sixth form centre, technology centre and its own playing fields alongside the recreation ground which it is also able to use. In Years 7, 8 and 9 all pupils study the following subjects: English, mathematics, modern language (French or German), science, technology, art, music and drama, personal development, physical education, religious education, geography, history, information technology. In Year 10 and 11, pupils study English, mathematics, technology, science, modern language (French or German), personal development, physical education, information technology. The school aims to provide the highest standard of teaching for all pupils.
