Background:

Founded in 1872, the school is located in a rural village but is very close to the M6 and M54 motorways and many people commute to Birmingham and Wolverhampton. Havergal Primary serves a number of village communities in the area. The original Victorian building contained three classrooms and a staffroom, however an number of additions have been made since the 1960s, including an outdoor swimming pool in 1971. Other outdoor facilities include a large sports field, environmental areas with pond, playgrounds, tree areas, butterfly garden and wildflower area. Pupils are given the opportunity to take part in specialist musical instrument tuition and cycling. Links exist with the church, parish councils and Women's Institute and fundraising takes place for charities such as Christian Aid, Poppy Appeal, Lepra and UNICEF. The special educational needs (SEN) co-ordinator manages all SEN provision, which is provided by a SEN classroom support assistant, learning support assistants in Key Stage 1 classes and further specialist assistants for statemented pupils.
