Background:

Highfield is a junior and infant community school that serves the Saltley area of Birmingham. A computer suite is installed in the junior block and there is a mini suite in the infant block. For the purpose of physical education the school has two halls, which are well equipped with apparatus and equipment. The school has strong music tradition and has taken part in concerts. Other out of hours learning activities include football, athletics, skipping, badminton, choir and computer club. Visits are often arranged to the local libraries, museums and other places of interest. The school has strong links with many local businesses. The school has gained many awards including Investor in People, Leading Aspect Award, The Litter Charter and Basic Skills Quality Mark award. The school aims to establish an ethos which promotes and reflects a caring and sharing community, where all individuals are regarded with equal importance and esteem, so that children can identify with the school and work to the best of their ability.
