Background:

New Invention Junior School is a community school under the auspices of Walsall Local Education Authority. The school has a purpose-built computer suite stocked with the latest hardware. Each classroom is connected to the internet and fitted with a ceiling mounted projector for class teaching using the latest technology. The school's library has a collection of CDROMs, which may be accessed by pupils for the purposes of research or the practice of basic skills. In both 2001 and 2002 the school was awarded the Department for Education and Employment School Achievement Award. All pupils experience music as an integral part of their school curriculum. The school hall is fully equipped for a wide range of physical activities. Outdoors a field and netball court is available. Pupils go swimming regularly. A variety of sports' teams pursue extra-curricular activities. During the week there is an opportunity to take part in art and craft activities, outdoor and indoor games, quiet activities such as reading, colouring, computer games and interactive activities. The school aims to develop spirituality and encourage pupils to recognise and refine their own beliefs and to understand and respect those of others.
