Background:
The school was built in 1972 in the village of Codsall, a semi-rural location in South Staffordshire. Situated on the main road through Codsall four miles from Wolverhampton, it is served by 'good bus and rail links'. The school is located on a campus with adjacent playing fields, swimming pool and leisure centre and St Christopher's new parish church is a few hundred yards away. In Years 5 and 6 the children are taught French and offered music lessons by the county music department for a small fee. Pupils can choose from the violin, clarinet and flute. Extra curricular activites include football, rugby, netball, dance and ball skills. The school has a special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO) and five welfare assistants provide advice and support to children, staff and parents. The school is 'dyslexia friendly', and 'recognises the unique needs of the pupils in their care'.
