Background:
Opened in 1982 this over-subscribed school is one of three on the Pendeford housing estate. There are seven class bases, two shared areas, a dining and teaching room and a music and resources room in the semi-open plan building. Plans have been approved to convert the school's quadrangle into a library and computing suite. Religious education is particularly important, with collective worship 'at the centre of daily life.' The school aims 'to cater for the needs of underachievers in addition to those who may be gifted' and individual educational plans are drawn up for those with special educational needs. St Paul's competes in football, netball, rounders, and cricket league competitions and also takes part in the town's athletic and cross country championships. Every year, it is involved in at least one charity fund raising event.
