Background:
Twickenham Primary was built in 1930 and serves a large municiple estate in North Birmingham. It is set in 'spacious' grounds with large grass area and playgrounds. All classrooms have been recently refurbished and there is a purpose built nursery, library, information and communications technology suite and a special needs room. The curriculum is complemented by a range of activities which include sport, music and drama. All children have the opportunity of participating in residential visits to the school's youth hostel which is owned jointly with a number of other Birmingham schools. The school'sees its charity fundraising and its links with local churches and businesses as a strength. The home-school agreement encourages parental involvment in partnership with the school and sets high academic and behavioural expectations. The school is 18% over-subscribed.
