Background:

The 'happy and successful' school opened in 1965 in a 'semi-rural' residential setting on the edge of Birmingham. The 'very attractive' school grounds comprise two playing fields and three playground areas. Indoor facilities include twelve classrooms, a 'large' hall/gymnasium and a computer suite. The 'carefully planned and balanced' curriculum is delivered to classes where sizes are 'as low as possible'. Children with special educational needs receive extra support, sometimes on a one-to-one basis. Staff 'rely heavily' on parents helping at home with their child's learning. Links with the local community are 'very good' and there is an annual charity week devoted to raising funds for that year's chosen charity. Extra-curricular clubs include football, netball, drama, country dancing, computer and choir, and older children can participate in residential visits. The 'strong' musical tradition is sustained by the many pupils who receive tuition in musical instruments. The school is assisted by a 'very supportive and active' Parent-Teacher Association, and parents are 'always welcome to help in the classroom'.
