Background:
Founded in 1865 as the parish school of St Chad's Cathedral, the current building was opened in 1973. Outdoor facilities include two playgrounds, a large field, picnic area and nature area surrounded by vast variety of trees, shrubbery and garden areas. Located in inner-city Birmingham, the school educates children from a variety of racial and cultural backgrounds; predominantly Catholic. Strong links with parish and local community groups; fundraising supports local, national and international charities. Music is a strength; choir frequently performs at city venues, including cathedral. Extra-curricular activities: football, netball, cricket, tag rugby, chess, choir, classical guitar. Ocarinas, Spanish, booster classes for English and mathematics. Beacon status (1999); DfES achievement awards (2001, 2002, 2003).
