Background:
Netherton CofE Primary School has its origins in the early part of the 19th century. The original school was founded in 1836. In 1989 the school was relocated to its present site, after refurbishment of the former Yew Tree Hill First School. The school has the capacity to be a two-form entry primary school with nursery unit, offering preparatory school and primary education for pupils from the age of three to 11+. The accommodation, extensively adapted and refurbished in 1989, is made up of 14 classrooms, one community room and a library. There is a large assembly hall/gymnasium, a separate dining hall and an administration area. The nursery unit, although self-contained with a separate entrance and play area, is an integral part of the school building. The school offers a range of after-school activities, which includes art club, dance club, choir, ICT club, football club, strategy games club, recorder club, hot squad, netball club and rugby club. The school aims to be a caring and Christian community in which the self-esteem of children and adults can be raised and in which all can find success and fulfillment.
